March 28, 2017: HYPERION BREWING COMPANY, JACKSONVILLE, ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING DATE OF MAY 19, 2017
Jacksonville, FL: New Jacksonville brewery Hyperion Brewing Company has announced its Grand Opening date as May 19, 2017 in a press release. Hyperion Brewing has appeared at a number of beerfests and sampling events over the past couple of years, and it is time for the brewery to serve its housemade beers at its own location. Hyperion Brewing is located at 1740 N. Main St. in the Springfield district of Jacksonville, just north of downtown. The principals are owner Alexandra McKeown and Brewmaster Troy Orton. In December, following approval by the Land Use Zoning approval, the brewery immediately began moving forward with renovation and construction in the space occupied by a former pawn shop (see prior story).

Hyperion Brewing will be the first nano-brewery to open in Jacksonville, brewing on a one-barrel brewhouse system. Its tap room will feature 15 taps. In a unique aspect, the brewery intends to offer constantly rotating house made beers without designated "core" beers. “We’ll be brewing at a break-neck pace to have as many of our beers ready for the grand opening as possible,” says Head Brewer Troy.
“We prefer flights to flagships. We believe in freedom of choice,” says Owner Alexandra (Alex). “Our goal is to let the public decide what our core beers should be. We will use our POS system data and feedback from guests in the taproom to determine which beers to distribute in the future.” Hyperion Brewing further explains that a Nielsen Household Panel Survey found the primary reason consumers purchase craft beer is to experiment with different styles or flavors. Hyperion Brewing intends to satisfy that consumer desire.

The May 19 Grand Opening event begins with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 pm. Doors will officially open at 5:00 pm. The first fifty guests will receive a free branded flight glass and ticket for a free beer at a later date. Springfield based Eddis and Sons Food Truck will be on site serving "legitimate, Philadelphia-style" cheese steaks. The Grand Opening precedes the Historic Springfield Tour of Homes hosted by Springfield Preservation and Revitalization ("SPAR"), on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 from Noon – 5:00 p.m. Hyperion Brewing will be open during the Tour of Homes.
The brewery will also offer 32-oz. "Crowler" cans of beer to-go. During the Grand Opening weekend, customers will be able to purchase up to two Crowlers.
For those customers located at the Beaches and looking for fun and safe transportation to/from Hyperion Brewing on Grand Opening Night, Jax Brew Bus will offer round-trip rides starting at Green Room Brewing (21+only). Riders can catch the bus at Green Room Brewing at 4:30 pm., 6:15 pm., and 7:30 pm. Tickets cost $15.00 round-trip and include a ticket for a free beer from Hyperion Brewing Company at a later date. Guests may bring their own local beer on board the bus during the ride.
