May 22, 2017: HYPERION BREWING OPENING WEEKEND EXCEEDS EXPECTIONS

Jacksonville, FL:   In a press release issued today, Hyperion Brewing Co. owner Alexandra "Alex" McKeown expressed gratitude to the Jacksonville community for the overwhelming response and attendance at the new brewery's Grand Opening celebration on Friday, May 19 and continuing through the weekend. The weekend "exceeded our expectations, and we're excited and grateful for the support and to be the first brewery in historic Springfield," said McKeown.

Friday's Grand Opening was preceded by a ribbon cutting ceremony, which included remarks by McKeown, brewery stakeholders including Co-Owners and Investors Steve and Sheree Schussman, City Councilman Reggie Gaffney, and Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Executive Director Christina Parrish-Stone. An estimated 100 guests attended the festivities, and an additional 800 patrons visited the brewery over the opening weekend. “All of us at Hyperion Brewing Company are overwhelmed by and so thankful for the support we received from the Jacksonville community, and especially our Springfield neighbors, at our Grand Opening and first weekend open for business,” McKeown added. “We look forward to adding more brews to our selection in the coming months and offering our customers a great experience at historic Springfield’s first brewery.”

Hyperion Brewing teamed up with the Jax Brew Bus, which operated opening night shuttles to Hyperion Brewing from Green Room Brewing, and around downtown with Intuition Ale Works, Bold City downtown, and Engine 15 Brewing Downtown. The brewery opening coincided with the Historic Springfield Tour of Homes hosted by Springfield Preservation and Revitalization over the weekend. Hyperion Brewing, in keeping with its mission of serving the local community, was a sponsor of the Home Tour.

Hyperion Brewing, one of the few women-owned breweries in the state, is the first brewery in the Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, and the city's first nano-brewery (one barrel brewhouse system). For a look behind the scenes ahead of the grand opening, see the pre-opening story on this site.

Hyperion Brewing is located at 1740 N. Main Street, Jacksonville.
