Tampa, FL: Marshal Zhukov makes a triumphant return to the Cigar City Brewing tap room on Tuesday, August 1, on "Red Banner Day," before proceeding statewide, according to a statement released by the brewery. Cigar City Brewing will release the sought-after Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout, named after the Russian World War II commander, with a release day at the brewery's Tampa tasting room.
Followers of the stout will enjoy the first tapping on August 1, along with the opportunity to purchase unlimited bottles. In addition to the namesake stout, Cigar City Brewing will also release its new Cognac Barrel-Aged version for sale onsite only. Distribution of the original Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout will follow throughout the state.
In combination with the seasonal stout release, Cigar City Brewing has also announced its "Order of the Red Banner Beer Dinner" series, consisting of five Marshal Zhukov's varieties with a five-course dinner. Locations for the beer dinners span the East Coast, beginning in Birmingham, Alabama on August 5 and continuing through September 26 with a stop in Jupiter, Florida. Locations include New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, DC, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Locally in Florida, the Beer Dinner sites are:
August 16: Kickbacks Gastropub, Jacksonville
August 23: The Local, Coral Gables
September 19: Haven, Tampa
September 26: Food Shack, Jupiter
Each Dinner will feature the following versions of Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout:
2017 Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout
2017 Bourbon Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov's Penultimate Push Imperial Stout
2017 Double Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout
2017 Cognac Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout
2016 Bourbon Barrel-aged Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout
Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout (11.2 ABV, 70 IBU) has garnered medals at the U.S. Open Beer Championships, each year between 2013-2017, including a Gold Medal this year. The brewer's tasting notes describe the beer:
characteristic espresso and dark chocolate aromas of the base beer with complimentary notes of black licorice and Tahitian vanilla; a viscous palate of baker's chocolate, fudge and dates gives way to vanilla and star anise flavors with rustic woodiness and a soft alcohol warmth rounding out this imposing stout.
Cheers!
