Following its destructive path through the Keys, South Florida and Southwest Florida, Irma made her way through Central and Northeast Florida. While power is being restored to many areas, physical after-effects remain: flooding, destruction of homes and businesses. The greater Jacksonville area, including St. Augustine, was hit especially hard with major flooding.
Other than over-preparations (of which there is probably no such thing), a nerve-wracking 12-18 hours, and lack of sleep, this writer experienced extremely minor physical damage to property. Internet service has not yet been restored, and a temporary connection is being used intermittently until the pages of brewnymph.com can be updated in real time and at full capacity.
For now, the sun is shining, the wind is calm, and from where I sit, one would never know what happened over the past few days.
Please continue to stay vigilant as dangerous conditions, especially with flooded areas, remain.
This site has been monitoring social media posts for status of re-openings. In the Jacksonville/Jax Beach/St. Augustine area, it appears that many breweries and craft beer businesses have already opened or expect to re-open during the course of the day on Tuesday, September 12, with a few scheduled to re-open on Wednesday, September 13 (some may be cash-only, due to inability to process electronic payments), while some are still dealing with the effects of Irma and are unable to open until further notice. Please see the Tap This page on brewnymph.com for Irma Updates!
Updates on beer events are ongoing on the Tap This and BeerSPHERE pages here on brewnymph.com, and new articles are on the way!
