BIG STORM BREWING ANNOUNCES NEW TAP ROOM IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA
Clearwater, FL: In a media release today, Big Storm Brewing Co. announced plans to open a new tap room in Cape Coral. The brewery, which operates breweries and tap rooms in Clearwater (Pinellas) and Odessa (Pasco), will open its newest tap room in the former Cape Coral Brewing location, at 839 Miramar St. by February 1, 2018.
Seaboard Craft Beer Holdings, Big Storm Brewing's parent company, has acquired Cape Coral Brewing, which announced its closure in October. Cape Coral Brewing was the city's first craft brewery when it opened in 2015. "We're extremely excited to bring the Big Storm experience and our selection of unique and high-quality craft beers to Cape Coral and the rest of Southwest Florida," said Big Storm Brewing co-owner L.J. Govoni. "Cape Coral Brewing built a tremendous community, and we want our new taproom to continue serving as a gathering place for craft beer aficionados, neighbors, and those looking to make new friends." Govoni also expressed optimism for the return of Cape Coral Brewing. "Our goal is to bring Cape Coral Brewing back with a new taproom in the city, sometime within the next 12 to 18 months."
Big Storm Brewing was founded in 2012 by Mike Bishop, and under head brewer Joel Moore, the brewery has earned recognition for its beers, including title of Best Beer in Florida in 2016 at Best Florida Beer Championships for its Oktoberfest Marzen Lager. Big Storm Brewing is an official partner of the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The brewery also recently announced a collaboration with William Dean Chocolates, the maker of chocolates featured in the Hunger Games movies, for a chocolate toffee stout named "Cocoa Convergence."
Big Storm Brewing's two Tampa-area locations are: 12707 - 49th St., Clearwater; and 2330 Success Dr., Odessa.
