On the heels of a new logo announced this past November, Cigar City Brewing has introduced a "refreshed look" for all of its packaging, including a new Jai Alai IPA 12-pack. In a statement released today, CCB Creative Manager Tiffany Cox explained that "[b]y refreshing, we were not looking to reinvent the wheel, but instead optimize it and make it work more efficiently. We had a lot of successful elements in the previous designs but lacked overall harmony. Our creative goal was to make these new designs feel like a natural evolution of their predecessor, for a look that definitively screams Cigar City Brewing."
The statement advised that the new packaging also "contains hidden elements that speak to Florida history and culture," which are "key" to CCB's brand. "Everything we do is informed by Tampa's unique culture, history and cuisine. We're thrilled that we were able to incorporate all of these elements into our new packaging. At the same time, we believe these designs resonate well in the markets outside of Florida and will help get beer lovers excited about the liquid inside," added Neil Callaghan, El Lector for CCB.
Further, the refresh coincides with the joint announcement by CCB and Oskar Blues Brewery, Perrin Brewing, Squatters Craft Beers and Wasatch Brewery of its joint venture name CANarchy. The breweries that comprise CANarchy represent the largest canned craft beer supplier in the U.S. CANarchy "brings together the skill and passion of the nation's leading craft beer canners," according to the statement. CANarchy was "formed as a group of like-minded craft breweries and rule breakers intent on building a platform to keep craft beer in the hands and mouths of drinkers."
CCB's beer is available in 12 states: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado and Utah. It also exports to Denmark.
Cigar City Brewing, founded in Tampa in 2009 by Joey Redner, produces the well-known Jai Alai IPA and Hunahpu's Imperial Stout. With a goal of creating quality beer to reflect the flavors and history of the Tampa area, the brewery's production has increased from 1,000 barrels of beer in 2009 to 65,000 barrels in 2016. The brewery partnered with Colorado-based Oskar Blues in 2016, providing growth and expansion.
