PROOF BREWING, TALLAHASSEE, ANNOUNCES RELOCATION AND EXPANSION PLANS
According to a statement released today, Proof Brewing will begin renovations this month at the 34,000sf former Coca-Cola Bottling Company building at 1320 South Monroe St. When all said and done, the new brewery will include an expanded tasting room, retail store, private event space, kitchen and beer garden. On the brewhouse side of things, the move means efficiency upgrades, a quality control lab and additional fermentation capacity, increasing the possible production to 30,000 barrels.
"We are thrilled to continue our growth on South Monroe Street," Co-founders Byron and Angela Burroughs said in the statement. "This will be a year of growth and development for Proof Brewing Company. We are proud of our growth in Tallahassee, and we're thrilled to reinvest back into the community that has been so supportive of us. It will be an amazing experience to revitalize a historical building near the flourishing downtown district .... Reintroducing manufacturing jobs to this district to serve the Tallahassee community will be a very exciting journey."
Byron and Angela Burroughs founded the brewery in 2012. With an early location on Tennessee Street, followed by a move to a larger space in the Railroad Square district, the new Monroe Street facility is the result of the "explosive growth" that the brewery has experienced. The expansion project will allow the brewery to add more packaged brands in cans to its lineup, and increase production to over 15,000 barrels in the first two years (up from 6,000 barrels in 2017), according to the statement. The brewery currently employs a staff of 30 and will bring on additional staff with the new venue and as new markets are added to its distribution and served throughout Florida.
The new brewery and tap room is expected to open by the end of 2018.

If you haven't visited Proof Brewing's current Railroad Square brewery, it might be time for a beertrip to Tallahassee before operations move to Monroe Street.
